At the end of March in St. Petersburg the final of the Open Championship of Russian universities was held - the largest tournament in intellectual games among students of universities of the CIS countries, near and far abroad. The Belarusian State Medical University team “Belarusian land of medicines” brilliantly played the qualifying rounds and turned out to be one of the few participants in the final part of this prestigious tournament.
The team of Belarusian State Medical University “Belarusian field of medicines” was represented by Nikita Nedzved (4 course, Faculty of general medicine), Anna Bondar (4 course, Faculty of general medicine), Ekaterina Romanova (5 course, Faculty of general medicine), Galina Plakhotnaya (intern doctor, graduate of BSMU), Andrey Kapitonov (3 course, Pediatric faculty) and team captain Artem Zabiran (5 course, Faculty of general medicine).
48 teams from more than 500 participating got the opportunity to take part in the finals, held at the St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation. The two game days were occupied by “Self game”, “Brainstorming”, “Erudite-quartet”, “Brain-ring” and, of course, “What? Where? When?'. In all games, the Belarusian land of medicines managed to compete with teams from other universities, and in the “Brain-ring” it was even possible to impose a struggle to reach the final. In the main game “What? Where? When?” “Belarusian land of medicines” took place at the top of the table, beating almost all rivals from Belarus and giving way only to the strongest teams in the world.
In addition, the Belarusian State Medical University team won first place in the special competition and became the best team of medical universities, beating rivals from Russia and Estonia.
The guys also took the opportunity and spent a lot of time exploring the sights of St. Petersburg, visited the Kazan Cathedral, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, and made a sightseeing tour of the city.
