On April 15, 2019 the delegation of the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Traditional Medicine of Sri Lanka visited the Belarusian State Medical University. The delegation was represented by the Deputy Minister of Health, Nutrition and Traditional Medicine of Sri Lanka, MFM Kassim, Secretary-Coordinator of the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Folk of Sri Lankan medicine MI Arafath, personal coordinator of the Minister of Health of Nutrition and Traditional Medicine of Sri Lanka L. Kapalikaran, the official representative of the administration of the FEZ "Vitebsk" Priyansu Jha.
The main purpose of the delegation’s visit to the Belarusian State Medical University was to familiarize with the educational process, discuss issues of Belarusian-Sri Lankan cooperation in education, attracting students from Sri Lanka to study at the Belarusian State Medical University at the Faculty of Career Guidance and Pre-University Training and the Medical Faculty for Foreign Students.
The delegation was hosted by the Rector of the University Anatol V. Sikorsky. The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector for International Relations Vasili V. Roudenok and Head of the Department of foreign languages Marina N. Petrova.
Rector of the University presented the guests with information about the Belarusian State Medical University, about the history, structure, educational process, organization of educational and scientific activities of the university.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues relating to the learning process, systems of organization of higher medical education in the Republic of Belarus, the rules for admission to higher medical schools and the conduct of admission campaigns.
The parties also discussed issues of cooperation on the direction of citizens of Sri Lanka to study at the Belarusian State Medical University in the field of the 1-st and 2-nd levels of higher education, as well as clinical residency.
Anatol V. Sikorsky noted that the Belarusian State Medical University is interested to accept on training more citizens from Sri Lanka.
Also Anatol V. Sikorsky offered the possibility of holding and participating in joint television, video and Internet conferences on topical issues of medicine.
At the end of the meeting, the Rector of the University thanked the guests for the visit, expressing hope for establishing long-term bilateral cooperation with Sri Lanka. The parties exchanged souvenirs.
After the official meeting, delegates had a short excursion around the Belarusian State Medical University, including the Museum of the Department of Normal Anatomy and the Center of practical training.
