The Belarusian State Medical University has close relations with many universities of the Russian Federation. There are more than 30 Agreements on academic and scientific cooperation with Russian partners. The development of interuniversity cooperation with partners from the Russian Federation is conditioned by a number of favorable factors: the similarity of training programs, mutual interest in implementing joint projects in the field of medical education and healthcare, the common legal framework within the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the similar mentality, etc.
Since 2014 the Belarusian State Medical University has successfully implemented student mobility programs with I.M.Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Moscow, Russian Federation) and Kirov State Medical University (Kirov, Russian Federation). Annually students from Belarus and Russia studying in the specialties 'General Medicine', 'Pediatrics' and ' General Medicine and Preventive Care' undergo clinical practice aimed not only at enhancement of the practical skills, but also at finding new friends and development of intercultural communication skills.
From 9 to 21 July, 2018 10 students of the Sechenov University and 2 students of the Kirov State Medical University underwent clinical practice in therapy, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology at Belarusian State Medical University. The tutors of BSMU Department of Cardiology and Internal Diseases, 1st Department of Surgical Diseases, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology gave students a rundown on how the health care institutions of the Republic of Belarus work.
Staying in Belarus was not limited only to clinical practice program. A rich cultural and entertainment program was organized for students, including visit to the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the National Library of Belarus, and the climbing centre.
On July 20, 2018 the students met with Vice-Rector for International Relations V.V.Roudenok, Head of the Department of International Relations V.V.Boika and specialist of the Department of International Relations A.A.Karnacheva.
Vice-Rector for International Relations V.V.Roudenok, greeting students from Moscow and Kirov, noted that cooperation with the Sechenov University and the Kirov State Medical University is developing very fast. Professor Roudenok thanked the students for their aspiration and hard work during two-week practice and stressed that the best of the best came to BSMU for clinical practice.
Head of the Department of International Relations V.V.Boika on behalf of the Belarusian State Medical University expressed gratitude to the administration of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University and Kirov State Medical University for the active development and support of cooperation in the field of student exchange.
