International communication in the west of Europe.

From 5 to 7 June the 20th anniversary Congress of the European Federation of the National Associations of Orthopedic and Traumatology (20th EFORT Congress), one of the largest orthopedic forums in the world, was held in the most western capital of Europe, the city of Lisbon, uniting more than 50 national organizations. Reports from all over the world were presented at the conference, the invited nations included the USA, Australia, India, China, Japan…

More than 6500 participants took part in the congress, the Belarusian delegation included 10 specialists representing leading clinics and educational institutions of the republic. The expert jury of the congress chose only about 2 thousand applications among more than 45 thousand for the presentation with a scientific report, and among them 12 - from Belarus. Reflected in oral and poster messages, the achievements of national traumatology and orthopedics have aroused keen interest among multinational professionals, emphasizing the high level of specialty in our country. It is pleasant to note that one of the reports from Belarus was among the top 20!

Modern technologies of osteosynthesis, scientific innovations and data of thousands of registers on the effectiveness of various methods of treating patients with pathology of the musculoskeletal system, robotic surgery and augmented reality techniques in teaching and performing real surgical interventions - something that seemed impossible quite recently, is already actively used in treating patients. A huge amount of information and a long list of new methods were acquired by the delegates of the Belarusian Society of Orthopedic Traumatologists.

The next, 21st congress of EFORT will be held on June 10-12, 2020 in Vienna, Austria.
