On October 9-11, 2019 18th International Congress of Trauma Orthopaedist of Ukraine was held in Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine). The Congress was attended by guests from 10 countries, including Belarus.
At the opening ceremony greeting speeches were made by representatives of state administrative bodies of Ukraine (the greeting letters of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Minister of Health Zoryana Skaletska were read) as well as by the leadership of the International Organization of Trauma Orthopaedists SICOT, the Society of Trauma Orthopaedists of Belarus, etc.
More than thousand participants have discussed issues of modern traumatology for three days. One of the topical issues was peculiarities of provision of medical assistance for patients with military injuries as well as foot and hand injuries, joint replacement surgery.
The representatives of the Belarusian State Medical University (Dean of the Faculty of General Medicine Alexey Volotovski, associate professors of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics Evgeny Zhuk, Stanislav Tretyak and Andrey Bespalchuk, assistant Victor Chirak), attended almost each of the meetings and provided 10 different reports.
According to the results of the Congress the new protocols for treatment of trauma and orthopedic diseases were adopted as well as the objectives and topics for discussion at the next Congress were outlined. However, for the representatives of Belarus more significant outcomes of the Congress were adoption of new approaches in solving various problems of traumatology and orthopedics, exchange of knowledge and meeting with colleagues that will definitely result in the development of Belarusian science.
