It has become a tradition for students of the Belarusian State Medical University to participate in the International Internet Olympiad in Latin and the Basics of Medical Terminology. Not so long ago, it took place at the Ulyanovsk State University for the fourteenth time.
In 2009 this online Olympiad was recognized as a new educational technology at the Med-e-Tel Educational Programs Conference in Luxembourg. It positively affects the development of students' interest in their professional language and ancient heritage in general and teaches to work independently.
The Olympiad in Ulyanovsk brought together about 300 participants from the CIS countries. Students demonstrated their knowledge of the Latin language in the fields of medicine, pediatrics, pharmacy, dentistry, preventive medicine, clinical psychology. Participants performed tasks on medical terminology and ancient culture. This year's creative task was dedicated to the Year of Memory and Glory (the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War), as well as the Year of Plant Health declared by UNESCO.
BSMU in this intellectual competition was represented by a student of group 6106 of the Medical Faculty for International Students Yelizaveta Yusofzada (supervisor - Natalya Kruglik). In a bitter struggle, she won a I degree diploma of in the specialty "General Medicine".
