The Republic of India is one of the key partners of the Belarusian State Medical University in the field of training specialists for practical health care. The Belarusian State Medical University on an ongoing basis cooperates with the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Republic of Belarus on training citizens of the Republic of India.
On August 15, 2020, a reception was held at the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Republic of Belarus to celebrate the 74th India Independence Day, which was attended by Anatol Sikorski, Rector of the Belarusian State Medical University; Vasili Roudenok, Vice-rector for international relations; Sah Rama Shankar, Director of Milemir company and students from India studying at the university.
Independence Day is one of the largest public holidays in India. On this day in 1947 the country gained independence from Great Britain.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Belarus Ms. Sangeeta Bahadur raised the National Flag of India in honor of the seventy-fourth anniversary of India's Independence.
Following the flag-raising ceremony and the singing of the National Anthem, Ms. Ambassador read to the audience a message from the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, to the Nation, highlighting the achievements of the state over the past year. The ambassador congratulated on the occasion and thanked all those present at the event.
The guests were presented with a concert program dedicated to the national traditions of India with an active participation of Indian students.
Anatol Sikorski, Rector of the Belarusian State Medical University, thanked Ms. Sangeeta Bahadur, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Belarus, for the invitation and warm welcome, as well as support for cooperation in training citizens of the Republic of India at the Belarusian State Medical University.
