Participation in International university rankings is one of the areas in strategic development of the Belarusian State Medical University that effectively allows it to turn into an international educational environment and coordinate educational and research processes applying international rules and standards. Currently, the University is represented in a number of leading international ranking systems and annually improves its positions.
In particular, the University significantly improved its positions in two international university rankings: Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics Ranking of World Universities), which is the largest academic ranking system of higher educational institutions and «4International Colleges & Universities», which is International Higher Education Search System and Directory, analyzing accredited universities and colleges in the world.
According to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (as of December 2020) the Belarusian State Medical University ranks 5th among Belarusian universities. BSMU retains the leading position in the ranking among other Belarusian medical universities, competing only with non-medical ones. In the global ranking BSMU occupies 3633 place. According to the latest data from Webometrics, the position of the University has risen more than twice from the 7313 to 3633 place for the period from 2017 to 2020.
The Belarusian State Medical University gained worthy position in the ranking search system «4International Colleges & Universities». Here, according to the latest data (for the period from 2017 to 2020), the university's position in the world has risen from 4517 to 1380 place. Among Belarusian universities, BSMU ranks 2nd out of 47 analyzed universities in 2020.
The Belarusian State Medical University is represented in the International Ranking of Higher Educational Institutions (ARES). According to the ARES-2020 ranking, the University is in group A. This means that BSMU is characterized by the ARES experts as the university with a high quality of teaching and scientific research as well as great employer demand for graduates. According to the International Ranking of Higher Educational Institutions (ARES-2020), BSMU ranks 3rd out of 29 analyzed Belarusian universities and 1st out of all medical universities in Belarus.
The Belarusian State Medical University is one of six Belarusian universities ranked by U-Multirank, which can be considered as the most global university rankings and a unique database of the world's leading universities.
BSMU is also registered on the website of the World Directory of Medical Schools under the auspices of the World Health Organization. The profile of the Belarusian State Medical University has been also created on the website of the QS Top University rankings.
The Belarusian State Medical University occupies one of the leading positions in the international ranking in comparison with other higher educational institutions in Belarus. The international activity in this direction is aimed at integrating the University into the European and international educational environments and obtaining more options for accelerated development and competitive advantages enhancing BSMU popularity and prestige on the international stage, which in turn contributes to an increase of export of educational services.
