International scientific-practical conference “Topical Issues of Modern Pharmacognosy” dedicated to the memory of an honored scientist of the Russian Federation, Professor Daria Alekseevna Muravyeva, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, was held on the basis of Pyatigorsk Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute – a subsidiary of Volgograd State Medical University. The forum was attended by leading Russian scientists from St. Petersburg, Perm, Voronezh and Yekaterinburg; and their Belarusian colleagues from Minsk – representatives from Belarusian State Medical University and the Centre for Expertise and Testing in Health Care.
The conference was held online and covered such vital areas of modern pharmacognosy as the search for new sources of medicinal plant raw materials, validation of methods for analyzing plant substances, emission of biologically active substances and production of phytopreparations.
Participants coming from our university – the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy – presented the following papers:
Roman Igorevich Lukashov, Natalia Sergeevna Gurina “Pretreatment of plant raw materials – an effective way to increase the extraction of active substances”;
Olga V. Mushkina, Natalia S. Gurina, Svetlana V. Shevchuk “The effect of phytoextracts from black alder leaves on tissue regeneration”;
Svetlana Valerievna Shevchuk, Natalia Sergeevna Gurina “Stability of cypress narrow-leaved herb raw material under standard storage conditions”.
These reports reflect the subjects of doctoral and candidate theses carried out by members of the department. They are focused on development of new waste-free and resource-saving technologies of plant raw material processing, production of innovative phytopreparations of reparative effects and distribution of new medicinal plants.
It is worth mentioning that the participation of Belarusian scientists in this conference is not a coincidence. Not only Russian, but also Belarusian students still use the textbooks of Daria Alekseevna Muravyeva. The traditions of scientific pharmacognosy are preserved owing to the work of Professor Natalia Sergeevna Gurina, Head of Belarusian School of Pharmacognosy, Dean of the Pharmaceutical Faculty, Doctor of Biological Sciences. It is also necessary to note that these scientific presentations were carried out under her supervision.
