The 8th All-Russian Congress of the Society of Hand Surgeons took place on June 4-5 in the city of Samara (Russian Federation). A Belarusian delegation took part in its work, which included representatives of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics of Belarusian State Medical University, specialists in the field of hand surgery - Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexei Igorevich Volotovsky, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Andrei Bespalchuk, assistant Alexandra Titova, Department's PhD student Ignat Shamko.
The forum was organized by the Interregional Public Organization "Society of Hand Surgeons - Hand Group", the Samara Regional Association of Physicians, Samara State Medical University of the Russian Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Health of the Samara Region. More than 200 specialists from different regions of Russia - Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Krasnodar and others - came to exchange new achievements in hand surgery. The participation of specialists from the Republic of Belarus in the congress gave it international status.
The traditional instructional course of the congress was aimed this time on all aspects of wrist and upper limb extension. Sessions of the congress were devoted to various problems of hand surgery, including wrist surgery, microsurgery, hand injuries and their consequences, Dupuytren's disease, rehabilitation of patients with various hand pathologies. Professor Aleksey Volotovsky, as a co-chairman, held one of the sectional sessions of the congress devoted to wrist pathology, and made a presentation “Experience in the use of differentiated tactics in the surgical treatment of scaphoid fractures”. Andrey Bespalchuk presented the results of pathology treatment in pediatric patients ("Surgical treatment of fifth finger camptodactyly"), and Ignat Shamko presented the report "Differentiated therapeutic tactics for damage to the distal radioulnar articulation and the triangular fibrocartilaginous complex of the wrist."
The program of the congress turned out to be very rich, the reports raised various modern problems of hand surgery. The forum was held in a businesslike, constructive and at the same time friendly atmosphere. In the final resolution of the Congress, a decision was made to move to the annual All-Russian Congresses of the Society of Hand Surgeons. The next such event is scheduled for early June 2022. It will take place in Rostov-on-Don.
