A start has been made! The university passes the first stage of WFME international accreditation.

A start has been made!

In order to increase the international authority and recognition of the university in global market for educational services the Belarusian State Medical University now in the process of getting accreditation by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) according to the standards of the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME).

Note: Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR) was the official Recognition Status from the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) to operate in the Republic of Belarus.

The Belarusian State Medical University is going to pass:

1) Institutional Accreditation according to the IAAR/WFME Standards and Guidelines for International Accreditation of medical educational institutions;

2) Educational Program Accreditation according to the IAAR/WFME Standards and Guidelines for International Accreditation of higher medical and pharmaceutical education for three educational programs

  • 1-79 01 01 “General Medicine” (1st level of Higher Education),
  • 1-79 01 07 “Dentistry” (1st level of Higher Education),
  • 1-79 01 08 “Pharmacy” (1st level of Higher Education).

On July 14 IAAR training seminar entitled “Education Quality Assurance System” was held for the BSMU leadership as well as academic and administrative of the university.

The seminar was conducted by IAAR 1st category expert, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Saule I. Sydykova.

1st category expert Saule Sydykova prepared the presentation on the main features of international accreditation as a tool to improve the quality of education, dwelled on the procedure for international accreditation.

As part of the training seminar, the expert gave a description of the main standards and criteria for international accreditation, including such sections as:

  • “Mission and Results”,
  • “Educational Program”,
  • “Assessment of Students”,
  • “Students”,
  • “Academic Staff”,
  • “Educational Resources”,
  • “Assessment of Educational Program”,
  • “Management and Administration”,
  • “Continuous Renewal”.

At the end of the training seminar, IAAR 1st category expert Saule Sydykova answered the questions of the audience, gave explanations on certain sections of the standards for accreditation.

The training seminar turned out to very useful and easy to comprehend.

The leadership of the Belarusian State Medical University expresses gratitude to IAAR 1st category expert, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Saule I. Sydykova for excellent presentation of the material, interesting discussion and important comments on each section of the presented material.
