Future pharmacists of Belarus leading medical university presented their scientific works

Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (Kaunas city) hosted the International Pharmaceutical Symposium "Modern Pharmacy: Problems, Challenges and Expectations 2021" and the 11th Conference "Pharmaceutical Science and Practice", which were combined into one event and dedicated to the fight against the COVID pandemic -19. The format of the forum included online oral reports of students and young scientists. The language of the event is English.

The symposium began with a plenary session, at which the current problems and challenges faced by the global pharmacy in recent years in connection with the coronavirus pandemic were discussed. After that, the work of the forum continued in three sections - students, young scientists, history of pharmacy.

The history section was attended by employees of the republican unitary enterprise "Belpharmacia" Valentina Sosonkina and Yulia Sheryakova, who made a presentation on the activities of Belarusian pharmacists during the First World War.

During the meetings of the scientific sections, the issues of pharmacognostic research (the qualitative and quantitative composition of medicinal plants, the study of new types of medicinal plants, the development of new herbal medicines), the creation of new dosage forms, including those for combating COVID-19, as well as the development of new techniques analysis and disposal of pharmaceutical waste, preclinical pharmacological studies and the introduction of new drugs into practice were actively discussed. Employees of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences took an active part in the discussion, who were interested in the work carried out by young scientists and asked numerous questions.

Representatives of the Pharmaceutical Faculty of Belarusian State Medical University made speeches in English at the student section. These are Viktoria Terletskaya, Daniella Tabakova (students of group 8401), who spoke about the study of the phenolic composition of Belarus flora deadnettles by thin layer chromatography method, Kirill Sazonenko (group 8505), who presented a work on the chemical destruction of β1-blockers as a promising method for the disposal of pharmaceutical waste, Denis Novash (group 8401), who paid attention to the effect of caffeic acid on human dermal fibroblasts.

It should be noted that our young researchers have shown themselves worthily, answering tricky questions and entering into polemics on the scientific problems raised.

These events were attended online not only by scientists from Lithuania and Belarus, but also from Ukraine, Poland, and the USA. All of them noted the high scientific level of scientific papers presented to a wide audience and wished the novice researchers further success.
