Belarusian State Medical University and I.I. Mechnikov Research Institute for Vaccines and Sera signed a cooperation agreement

Belarusian State Medical University and I.I. Mechnikov Research Institute for Vaccines

Business meeting with Oksana Svitich, Head of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution “I.I. Mechnikov Research Institute for Vaccines and Sera”, took place in the middle of December. During the meeting, a cooperation agreement was signed between two institutions – Belarusian State Medical University and I.I. Mechnikov Research Institute for Vaccines and Sera.

BSMU was represented by Rector, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Sergey Rubnikovich, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasili Roudenok, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Vasili Filonyuk, Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Sergey Zhavoronok, and Head of the Department of Biology, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Vladimir Davydov.

It should be mentioned that the agreement was preceded by fruitful cooperation on the project “Development of test systems for diagnostics of human hepatitis E and testing their diagnostic efficiency on clinical specimen from endemic and non-endemic regions in the Republic of Belarus”. Under supervision of Professor Zhavoronk two manuals on diagnostic method application of human hepatitis E were prepared, two dissertations were defended, more than 50 scientific works were published, including over 30 works in journals, among them 10 in the journals of neighbouring countries and the Russian Federation. In addition, two patents have been received, one of them co-authored with Russian colleagues.

The agreement is implemented by the laboratories of the Institute’s departments and the Department of Infectious Diseases, the Department of Biology, and the research division of Belarusian State Medical University. Thus, the parties agreed to carry out joint scientific and methodological activities, prepare joint publications on the results of research, and share its results.

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed the agreement, expressing hope for further fruitful cooperation and development of mutually beneficial relations in the field of science and medicine.
