Every year, numerous professional meetings with international participation are held within the walls of the leading educational institution 'Belarusian State Medical University', attracting specialists from all over the dental world. The first day of April was no exception: our university became an informational virtual platform for XIV International Scientific and Practical Conference 'Advanced Dentistry Day in the Republic of Belarus - 2022'. The organizers of the prestigious international dental forum are traditionally the Department of Periodontology of Belarusian State Medical University, the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry and Orthodontics with the course of Pediatric Dentistry of Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, the Belarusian Republican Dental Association.
The meeting was opened by the chief external specialist in dentistry of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Rector of Belarusian State Medical University, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Sergey Rubnikovich. The Dean of BSMU Dental Faculty, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Tatyana Shevela and the Chairman of the Belarusian Republican Dental Association, Head of BSMU Department of Periodontology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Lyudmila Dedova addressed the guests and participants with a welcoming speech.
The prospects for the development of dentistry, the accumulated scientific and practical experience were collectively discussed by leading specialists of our country, foreign experts, the teaching staff of educational institutions. The program of the scientific forum was presented by the achievements of experts in the field of dentistry from the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation, Moldova.
In the report of Professor Alexey Silin, epidemiological data were presented, the results of modern diagnostic methods for the most common forms of musculoskeletal dysfunction of the TMJ in dental anomalies. Moldovan scientists Valentina Trifan and Maria Sukhan considered an interdisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of dental anomalies in the sagittal plane, as well as the use of computed tomography in orthodontics. Belarusian methods of treatment of dental patients with pain were presented by Associate Professor Alexander Glinnik. Professor Lyudmila Orekhova demonstrated the technologies and principles of conservative periodontological treatment, the sequence of application of various methods, drugs, dosage forms at the stages of diagnosis in patients with diabetes mellitus. And Natalia Romanenko presented new trends in the use of materials of xenogenic origin in reconstructive bone grafting. Thanks to the report of Professor Olga Gileva, the conference participants got acquainted with the dental problems of the COVID-19 pandemic period. Russian scientists Ekaterina Mikhailova, Alexander Tsimbalistov, Lyudmila Ermolaeva in their report revealed the theoretical and applied aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of intolerance to dental structural materials, and associate Professor Anna Vasyanina – oral hygiene in autistic children. The report of Albina Himaletdinova and Rinat Saleev raised issues of evaluation of restoration materials used in dentistry.
More than two hundred poster reports by specialists in various fields of dentistry were presented at the conference. The relevance and novelty of the topics of oral and poster reports did not leave dentists indifferent, as evidenced by the active final discussion.
Practicing doctors, teachers, residents, PhD students and students – all without exception received useful new knowledge, wonderful impressions and invaluable experience of participating in a grandiose event of international scale.
Events of this level help to expand the scope of cooperation, broadcast online best practices in organizing and holding conferences and outline trends in the development of dentistry in the future.
The friendly, creative, surprisingly warm and cozy educational atmosphere that prevailed throughout the conference, the idea of uniting dentists from different countries and open interesting communication with colleagues allowed current dentists and the younger generation of students to increase the level of knowledge and professional skill, exchange clinical experience, get information about advanced technologies, recharge with good mood and positive emotions for the whole year ahead, looking forward to future meetings.
