The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus paid a visit to the Rector of Belarusian State Medical University

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus Nazarguly Shagulyev visited Belarusian State Medical University in early April. The main purpose of the visit was to discuss a wide range of issues related to the training of Turkmen citizens and to determine the main areas of joint work for 2022.

The distinguished guest was received by the Rector of the University, Сorresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Sergey Rubnikovich. The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector for International Relations, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasili Roudenok.

Belarus and Turkmenistan have close relations in the educational, scientific, humanitarian and cultural spheres. Sergey Rubnikovich noted that Turkmenistan for many years has been one of the key partners of the University in the field of personnel training for practical healthcare. Currently, among the students of BSMU there are more than 250 citizens of this state who master the educational programs of the first stage of higher education, study at the preparatory department and are trained in clinical residency.

During the official conversation, the parties paid attention, in particular, to the peculiarities of the educational process organization in the current epidemiological situation, the issues of academic performance and academic discipline, the elimination of academic and financial debt. They also discussed the academic and scientific cooperation of Belarusian State Medical University and Myrat Garryev State Medical University of Turkmenistan within the framework of the Agreement on Academic and Scientific Cooperation.

Rector of Belarusian leading medical institution of higher education Sergey Rubnikovich positively assessed the level of bilateral cooperation between the university and the embassy, expressing gratitude to Mr. Nazarguly Shagulyevich for his personal contribution to the development of partnership relations.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan thanked the leadership of Belarusian State Medical University for their hospitality, stressing that the conversation took place in a friendly and working atmosphere.
