The delegation of Russian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers at Belarusian State Medical University

This year the Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers celebrates its 115th anniversary. A delegation of the Russian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers headed by Chairman Anatoly Domnikov arrived to congratulate the Belarusian partners.

On April 14, he visited Belarusian State Medical University. Among the delegates there were also the Chairman of the Minsk Regional Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers Alexander Dreychuk and a representative of the Republican Committee, head of the Department of Information, International work Elena Kostyukova.

The guests were received by the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasili Roudenok. The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Primary Trade Union Organization of University Employees Natalia Kibik and the Head of the Department of International Relations Varvara Boika.

The main purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the history and structure of the university, the system of higher medical education of the Republic of Belarus, the organization of the educational process using practice-oriented teaching methods.

Professor Vasili Roudenok briefly outlined the main milestones of the 100-year history of the republic’s leading medical university, paid considerable attention to the features of educational, scientific, medical and international activities of the university. It was noted that medical university offers students all conditions for obtaining high-quality medical and pharmaceutical education: highly qualified teaching staff, modern clinical facilities, comfortable living conditions.

The Vice-Rector for International Relations stressed that more than 2,000 foreign citizens from more than 50 countries of the world are currently studying at the university at all stages of education. For many graduates of our university, the education received has become the key to a successful career. The University is included in the database of the World Directory of Medical Schools under the auspices of WHO, is recognized as meeting the criteria and standards of medical schools/universities in Israel, has been recognized by the Medical Council of Sri Lanka. The partner network of international interuniversity cooperation covers more than 100 foreign universities from 29 countries of the world.

Anatoly Domnikov thanked for the warm welcome, noting that Belarusian State Medical University has always been famous for high-quality training of students, many graduates of our university successfully work in healthcare and science institutions of the Russian Federation, make a significant contribution to the healthcare system and medical science of the CIS.

Acquaintance with the leading higher medical institution of education continued in the museum of the university's history. The head of the museum Nikolay Shumin acquainted the guests with historical documents, archival materials of the gradual formation of Belarusian State Medical University. In the Simulation and Assessment Center, where classes are conducted using modern equipment, simulators, manikins and phantoms, the tour was conducted by its head Natalia Mironchik, demonstrating educational opportunities for classes in the sections "Therapy", "Obstetrics and Gynecology", "Anesthesiology and Resuscitation", "Pediatrics", "Neonatology", "General medical practice", "Surgery", "Nursing and manipulation technique", "Urology", "Otorhinolaryngology". In such classes, students acquire a wide range of competencies and well-established practical skills without the risk of harming the patient, which allows them to develop the ability to make quick decisions and perform a number of manipulations or interventions flawlessly, especially in urgent conditions.

At the end of the meeting, the guests exchanged information, contacts and agreements on enhancing cooperation and partnership relations. Anatoly Domnikov was presented with a memorable gift – a book about the university dedicated to the 100th anniversary of our Alma Mater.
