International on-line scientific student readings of dental faculties

A joint meeting of student scientific circles of the Departments of Periodontology, Orthodontics, General Dentistry of Belarusian State Medical University, Samara State Medical University, Kuban State Medical University, Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova as well as Saratov State Medical University, which joined this event for the first time, took place on December 12.

The first winter and final meeting of the calendar year began with honoring the team of students who took part in the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference of Students and Young Scientists with international participation YSRP-2022, as well as in the competition of students and young scientists 'Clinical Dentistry' in orthodontics, therapeutic and orthopedic dentistry and in the International scientific and Practical Conference 'Saratov Dental Ring: integrative dentistry' on the basis of Saratov State Medical University.

The contestants were able to test their own knowledge, skills, perseverance and ingenuity by performing the most interesting tasks prepared by professional teachers on the phantoms. The Belarusian team made an impression. The guys adequately represented their native university, confidently passed all stages of the competitions and demonstrated a high level of training.

Students of the Dental Faculties of Belarusian State Medical University told about their impressions, about the process of preparing for such a difficult test, told about how they had won awards and how sincerely grateful they were to their leaders for invaluable knowledge, guidance and high results achieved.

Congratulations and thanks to the students and the teaching staff for their efforts, daily work in pursuit of excellence, new discoveries and achievements of incredible heights in their favorite business! The fruitful cooperation of medical universities allowed us to continue discussing one of the most relevant topics of modern dentistry – 'An interdisciplinary approach to the treatment of periodontal diseases'.

Opening the meeting, Professor of the Department of Periodontology of BSMU, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Yulia Denisova, Head of the Department of Periodontology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Lyudmila Dedova, Head of the Department of Orthodontics of Belarusian State Medical University, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Yakov Timchuk, Head of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry of Samara State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences addressed colleagues with a welcoming speech, Professor Mikhail Postnikov, Head of the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry of SamSMU, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexander Nesterov, Dean of the Dental Faculty of Kuban State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ilya Bykov, Head of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry of Saratov State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Larisa Ostrovskaya and Associate Professor of the Department of Dentistry of the Institute of Vocational Education of Samara State Medical University, Candidate of Medical Sciences Irina Bazhutova.

From the Department of Periodontology of the Belarusian State Medical University, the reports 'A new method for determining the biological width of the periodontium' were presented by Anastasia Rubnikovich, a 3rd-year student of the  Dental Faculty (scientific supervisor – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Yulia Denisova) and 'An integrated approach in the treatment of patients with malocclusion and musculoskeletal system', a 5th-year student of Dental Faculty Ksenia Maslo (supervisor – Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Yakov Timchuk).

The boundless expanses of obtaining knowledge did not leave anyone indifferent, the reports caused an interesting discussion and gave the ground for further fruitful work.

Summing up the meeting, Professor of the Department of Periodontology of BSMU Yulia Denisova stressed the importance of organizing such events in our time, when there is an opportunity for students and future colleagues to discuss the newest and most interesting topics in various fields of knowledge, and especially the subtleties of interdisciplinary interaction of specialists in the treatment of dental patients.

Our meetings are always shrouded in warmth, sincerity and a sincere desire to absorb new things, and on the eve of the upcoming holidays, the atmosphere has developed even more wonderful and kind. Colleagues expressed a great desire to see each other as often as possible in the new year, to continue to share the latest developments, both of the younger generation of students and experienced doctors, to multiply achievements and strengthen the framework of international cooperation!
