As part of XI International Exhibition of Weapons and Military Equipment MILEX – 2023, Minsk hosted X International Scientific Conference on military-technical problems in the field of defense and security, the use of dual-use technologies. The conference was attended by 50 reports from heads and specialists of ministries and departments, scientific and educational institutions, domestic and foreign enterprises, companies engaged in the development and development of advanced military and dual-use technologies. The event was held in the format of a plenary meeting and three sections.
At the plenary meeting, the head of the tactical medicine cycle, Lieutenant Colonel of the medical service Stepan Savchanchik presented a report on the topic 'Algorithms for first aid' (co–speakers - head of the Department of Organization of medical support of troops and Disaster Medicine, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Colonel of the medical service Andrey Strinkevich, Associate Professor Alexander Mikhalchuk). The speaker introduced the audience to the results of the analysis of modern first aid algorithms and acronyms for memorizing them. He stressed that the use of the acronym 'BOATMAN' developed at the Center for Tactical Medicine makes it possible to better remember the approved algorithm of the shelter zone, adds confidence in the actions of trainees in tactical medicine courses, reduces the number of mistakes made when providing first aid under stress.
Associate Professor of the Department of Epidemiology of BSMU, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Inna Fedorova made a report on the topic 'Military biological threats: the current state and main trends in the field of biosafety'. The co-rapporteurs were Senior lecturer of the Department of Military Epidemiology and Military Hygiene, Colonel of the Reserve Medical Service Sergey Lebedev and Professor of the Department of Organization of Medical Support of Troops and Disaster Medicine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Colonel of the Reserve Medical Service Svyatoslav Shnitko. The report considered synthetic biology and artificial intelligence as dual-use technologies in the field of biosafety. Inna Fedorova noted that the convergence of biotechnologies with artificial intelligence can, on the one hand, provide monitoring and control over military biological threats, and on the other hand, increase the risk of a highly developed targeted biological attack. The speaker highlighted the main national interests in the biological sphere and trends in the field of biosafety, focused on the issues of improving measures in the biological protection system of troops, including strategies and tactics of immunization of military personnel in modern changing conditions.
The problems of scientific research and development in the interests of creating and mastering new and promising technologies in the field of military medicine were discussed at the breakout session 'Modern trends in military medicine'. There were presented reports on the areas of military field surgery, military field therapy, pharmacology, infectious diseases, organization of medical support for troops and cadaster medicine, military pharmacology.
The conference participants also visited the exhibition, got acquainted with its large-scale exposition, scientific developments and innovative technologies. 170 organizations from 30 countries took part in the exhibition.
