On November 15-16, 2018, an international scientific-practical conference “Health and Environment” was held, with participation of more than 350 specialists from leading research centers of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia.
Within the framework of the conference, two round tables “Chemical safety” and “Risks of antibiotic resistance in food chains”, a competition of works of young scientists, seven sections, including a section of student work, were held. The work was carried out in the most relevant areas: human environmental factors and health risk analysis, radiation safety, occupational medicine and occupational pathology, industrial toxicology, monitoring of human environmental factors and methods of analytical laboratory control, hygiene of children and adolescents.
The round table “Risks of antibiotic resistance in food chains” was held in conjunction with the World Week of Proper Use of Antibiotics, which was held from 12 to 18 November 2018. Following the round table “Risks of antibiotic resistance in food chains”, it was decided to develop a National Action Plan to curb the development of antimicrobial resistance in food chains and strengthen the capacity of laboratories monitoring and monitoring antibiotic resistance and residual content of antibiotics in food products.
As a result of the round table “Chemical Safety”, a decision was made to organize from January 2019 a cycle of training seminars (webinars) on chemical safety issues, namely, inventory of chemicals and mixtures, formation of a registration dossier for industrial chemicals, identification of hazardous properties of chemical substances, its classification and labeling in accordance with international requirements, etc.
Awards to prominent scientists has become a good tradition. This year, the title “Honorary Professor of the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Scientific and Practical Center of Hygiene” was awarded to:
Alexander Stozharov - Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor at the Department of Radiation Medicine and Ecology, Belarusian State Medical University;
Valeriy Filonov - doctor of medical sciences, professor, professor of the Department of occupational health.
This year the conference was held at the Belarusian State Medical University, which made it possible to widely involve both teachers and a large number of medical students in the scientific movement. For young people, it is very important to adopt best practices not only from teachers, but also from their fellow students, who are already actively working in the field of science and are ready to share experience in the field of scientific research.
It is pleasant to note that from year to year the number of participants of our conference is growing, the list of problems and questions that are raised is expanding. All this allows to look at the current problems of preventive medicine and health protection from a new perspective and work out approaches to solving them in the near future.
