On January 24, 2019 the Belarusian State Medical University was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Belarus Mr. Nasirdzhan S. Yusupov and the Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Belarus Daniyar T. Abidov.
The main purpose of the visit to the Belarusian State Medical University was to get acquainted with the organization of the educational process, the history and structure of the university, the system of higher medical education of the Republic of Belarus, discussion of the development of the Belarusian-Uzbek cooperation in the field of higher medical education and health care, as well as the prospects for establishing inter-university cooperation and attracting applicants from the Republic of Uzbekistan to study at the Belarusian State Medical University.
The delegation was hosted by the Rector of the University Anatol V. Sikorsky. The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector for International Relations Vasili V. Rudenok.
During the official meeting, the parties discussed issues relating to the learning process, systems of organization of higher medical education in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Belarus, as well as the possibility of holding joint Internet conferences, scientific and practical conferences, seminars and symposia on topical issues of medicine.
Anatol V. Sikorsky presented the delegation with information about the Belarusian State Medical University, about the history, structure, educational process, organization of educational and scientific activities of the university.
University's rector emphasized that in the field of training of medical personnel the Belarusian State Medical University occupies a leading position in the Republic of Belarus and has a highly qualified teaching staff, modern clinical bases, comfortable living conditions for students.
The Belarusian side offered the possibility of exchanging students and teachers from the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as cooperation in the joint preparation of scientific articles and publications devoted not only to topical issues of medicine, but also to modern trends in education and health care for placement in medical journals.
Mr. Ambassador thanked for the detailed information about the university, and also offered to work out the issue of establishing inter-university cooperation between medical universities of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan, noting that cooperation in the preparation of highly qualified medical personnel, as well as training and retraining of specialists in the field of medicine are very important for the Republic of Uzbekistan.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Nasirdzhan S. Yusupov thanked Anatol V. Sikorsky for hospitality and warm welcome. In turn, the rector of the university also thanked Mr. Ambassador for the visit, expressing hope of establishing long-term fruitful cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan. Both sides exchanged souvenirs.
After the official meeting delegates had a short excursion to the BSMU new laboratory building, Center of practical training and anatomical museum.
