On January 25, 2019 the Belarusian State Medical University was visited by the delegation of the People’s Republic of China consisting of Cao Chen (the Chief specialist of the Department of International Relations of Xuzhou) and Cao Qing (the representative of the Department of Education of Henan province).
The delegation was hosted by Vice-Rector for International Relations Vasili V.Roudenok. The meeting was also attended by the Dean of the Medical Faculty for Foreign Students Oleg S. Ishutin and BSMU postgraduate student Xie Xukai.
Vice-Rector for International Relations Vasili V.Roudenok welcomed the guests from the People's Republic of China and noted that the number of BSMU students from China is growing every year. Professor Roudenok also added that Chinese students are hardworking and motivated.
Vasili V.Roudenok familiarized the Chinese delegation with the structure, educational process, organization of educational and scientific activities of the university, presented the guests information about faculties and specifics of training foreign students at the university. Professor Roudenok also spoke about the possibility of obtaining information about academic performance, attending lectures, seminars and practical classes for students on the official website of the Belarusian State Medical University and outlined that over two thousand foreign students, undergraduates and clinical residents from more than 50 countries of the world study at the university, including students from the People's Republic of China.
Vice-Rector for International Relations Vasili V.Roudenok emphasized that the specialties “general medicine” and “dentistry” are the most popular specialties among foreign citizens. After graduation from the higher educational program Chinese citizens often continue studying at the Master’s Degree Program, PhD Degree Program and Clinical Residency.
During the official meeting the parties discussed the possibility of establishing scientific and academic cooperation with the medical universities of the People's Republic of China, in particular, issues related to the learning process, educational exchange, joint scientific and practical conferences, seminars and symposia, Internet conferences on topical issues of medicine, etc.
The delegation of the People’s Republic of China thanked Vasili V.Roudenok for organizing the meeting and providing detailed information about the Belarusian State Medical University. The guests in turn provided information about the Chinese medical universities.
The Chinese side indicated their interest in developing cooperation in the field of training specialists for practical health care of the People’s Republic of China at the Belarusian State Medical University.
Vice-Rector for International Relations Vasili V.Roudenok appreciated this initiative of the Chinese side and noted that the university is interested in developing cooperation in this sphere and suggested to promote the enrolment of Chinese applicants to the Belarusian State Medical University.
In addition, the Belarusian side offered to develop the exchange of students and teachers from the People's Republic of China, as well as the organization of joint scientific conferences, seminars and symposia, including Internet conferences on topical issues of medicine.
The delegation of the People’s Republic of China also appreciated the proposed areas of cooperation and expressed their hope for deepening bilateral partnership relations.
The parties agreed to foster further cooperation in science, education and culture.
After the official meeting guests from the People’s Republic of China were given a short tour around the university building, the anatomical museum and the Center of practical training.
