The team of the pharmaceutical faculty of the Belarusian State Medical University took part in the VI All-Russian Student Pharmaceutical Olympiad, which was held in Nizhny Novgorod from January 29 to 31, 2019. The BSMU Pharmaceutical Faculty was represented by the 5th year students: Katsiaryna Kurpik, Nastassia Akunevich, Pavel Zushchyk, Siarhei Hermatski and 4th year student Lizaveta Shablouskaya. The team was guided by Natalya D. Yarantseva, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
All-Russian Student Pharmaceutical Olympiad is held every two years. The organizer of the Olympiad is the Association of Russian pharmaceutical manufacturers. There is great interest in the event from the Russian pharmaceutical companies which organize special quizzes, workshops and excursions to the largest companies in the region.
This year, Nizhny Novgorod hosted 165 participants of the Olympiad, including 33 teams from universities of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The competition was held in two sections: “pharmacy” and “pharmaceutical technology”. 29 teams fought for victory in the “pharmacy” section, including BSMU students. The rest participants competed in pharmaceutical technology.
The Olympiad tasks were divided into three parts, for which a certain amount of time was allotted: 15 minutes for part “A” (test of 10 questions); then the participants had to give abbreviated answer in part “B” and after that the participants had to give detailed answer and solve a particular case problem in part “C”. Participants were given 3 hours to complete the tasks of parts “B” and “C”. According to the rules students could only use a periodic table, calculator and their own horizons.
According to the results of the Olympiad the team of the Belarusian State Medical University was among the ten strongest teams and took the 7th place.
The members of BSMU team also participated in career quest organized by the Servier company and in the business game organized by STADA company. Our students took 3rd place and were rewarded with memorable prizes.
Pharmaceutical company “Nativa” also summarized the results of its competition, where students played individually. One of the winners was Pavel Zushchyk.
The participants of the Olympiad had to share their personal achievement in the Instagram in order to motivate the participants not to rest on their laurels. Pavel told that in only half a year he learned how to assemble a Rubik's cube in 25 seconds and wished all the participants of the Olympiad to manage their lives likewise by assembling it from the edges of their own personality. He was also rewarded with memorable prizes.
In 2021 Kaliningrad will be waiting for participants, including the team of the pharmaceutical faculty of the Belarusian State Medical University.
