On June 10, 2019 the Belarusian State Medical University was visited by the delegation of the Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The delegation was represented by Vice-Rector of the Shanxi University of Chinese Medicine Tan Zhi Shu and instructor Xu Hong Bo, accompanied by Oleg P. Gunko, Deputy Director of Sports Rehabilitation Center NEO; Dmitry N. Savenya, sports medicine doctor; and Abdulrakhim Y. Yarov, a specialist in Chinese massage.
Reference: Founded in 1952, Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine also known as the Shanxi College, is one of the oldest and most prestigious medical schools in China. It is consistently ranked among the top 20 medical schools in China. It is based in Taiyuan, Shanxi province. Shanxi University of TCM is the center of scientific research and medicine in Shanxi Province. The courses available there includes the prestigious Traditional Chines Medicine (Clinical Medicine). Besides, the university attaches great importance to international exchanges and cooperation, establishing a new pattern of diversified cooperative targets and forms.
The main purpose of the visit was to discuss the prospects of academic and scientific cooperation and exchange between the Belarusian State Medical University and the Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the framework of bilateral cooperation agreement.
The delegation was hosted by Vice-Rector for International Relations Vasili V.Roudenok.
Vasili V.Roudenok familiarized the Chinese delegation with the structure, educational process, organization of educational and scientific activities of the university, presented the guests information about faculties and specifics of training foreign students at the university. Professor Roudenok outlined that over two thousand foreign students, undergraduates and clinical residents from more than 50 countries of the world study at the university, including students from the People's Republic of China. Chinese citizens study at the Faculty of Career Guidance and Pre-university training, receive higher medical education at the Medical Faculty for Foreign Students, undergo postgraduate educational programs (Clinical Residency, Master’s Degree Program, PhD Degree program). The most popular postgraduate educational programs are traumatology and orthopedics, as well as programs in dental specialties.
During the official meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the learning process, educational exchange, organization of higher medical education in the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus, the possibility of holding joint Internet conferences, scientific and practical conferences, seminars and symposia on topical issues of medicine, the possibility of establishing cooperation in the direction of students from China to study at the Belarusian State Medical University.
The both sides indicated pharmacy and clinical pharmacology as the most prospective areas of cooperation and expressed their hope for deepening bilateral partnership relations.
At the end of the meeting the guests from the Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Belarusian State Medical University for the hospitality and the organization of a warm welcome.
Both parties exchanged memorable souvenirs.
