On October 7-9, 2019 the 4th Russian National Congress with international participation “Transplantation and organ donation” was held in Moscow. This year the event was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Academician V.I.Shumakov Federal Research Center of Transplantology and Artificial Organs” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. For half a century this institution has broken through quite a long journey from specialized scientific and clinical institution established in 1969 to the world-famous leader of Russian transplantology.
Organ transplantation and organ donation are special areas of modern medicine, which have a huge public resonance and are associated not only with professional, but also with organizational and ethical problems. The congress was attended by the leadership of healthcare institutions of Russia and abroad, representatives of the State administrative bodies, parties, public organizations as well as Russian and foreign researches in the sphere of clinical medicine and biomedical science.
The Belarusian State Medical University was represented at the Congress by Associate Professor of the 2nd Department of Surgical Diseases Andrey V. Bolshov. Ass. prof. A.V.Bolshov presented his report within the framework of the conference “Cell therapy, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine”. Ass. prof. A.V.Bolshov in his report presented the results of the clinical application of a new method of treatment of postoperative hypoparathyroidism using cell technology developed by the staff of the 2nd Department of Surgical Diseases and the BSMU Research Department. As part of the scientific discussion, the conference participants showed great interest in the results of our research, especially what concerns the stage of clinical application of the developed method. In turn, the representatives of the Belarusian delegation had the opportunity to get acquainted with the main trends in development of cell therapy and tissue engineering in the Russian Federation.
