On November 10-11, 2019 the practical course “Training in the Simulation Centre” was held at the Simulation and Attestation Center of Belarusian State Medical University.
The training course was conducted by Zulfiya A. Zaripova, anesthesiologist-resuscitator, candidate of medical sciences, head of the Certification and Accreditation Center, associate professor of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Pavlov First St.Petersburg State Medical University. Zulfia Zaripova is an accredited expert of the Russian Medical League, accreditation expert of simulation and attestation centers, member of the WFSA Education Committee, Member of the Board of the Russian Society of Simulation Training in Medicine (ROSOMED), chairman of the St. Petersburg branch of ROSOMED.
University teachers from various departments mastered modern approaches to simulation training. The classes were very active: in two days the participants completed many practical exercises, most of which allowed them to have a fresh look at the training in the simulation center.
The participants of the course delved into both purely practical aspects of compiling standard simulation modules and scenarios, and humanitarian aspects: areas of modern andragogy, methods of conducting discussions, building relationships with students.
A specific culmination of training was the development of new scenarios. That was very important part of the practical course that demonstrated all the participants how important to think in detail and then work out the scenario before applying it in class with students.
But even more important part of any simulation training is debriefing. While conducting debriefing it is important to take into account psychological aspects in order to help students find out their own mistakes without assistance of a teacher, as well as motivate them for further development.
The keynote idea of simulation training nowadays is to allow senior students to "try on" the role of doctors of different specialties and thus help them to make the right choice in future professional specialization.
At the end of two very eventful days the participants thanked their instructor Zulfiya A. Zaripova for new knowledge, ideas and professional inspiration.
We all hope that this practical course won’t be the last one!
