Due to close friendly and business relationships between Belarus and Russia the fruitful cooperation in various areas was always developing very rapidly. Indeed, it is difficult to overestimate the importance of the exchange of experience in education, science, healthcare and culture, advanced training of young specialists, the creation of a single information professional space. Diplomatic relations not only between states as a whole, but also between regions, districts and organizations of Belarus and Russia resulted in implementation of joint projects in the sphere of youth outreach.
On September 21-23, 2018 the delegation of the Moscow district of Minsk visited Smolensk to participate at final part of the joint Russian-Belarusian festival “Meet the Stars”. The main aim of the event was to discuss the results of the implemented projects, determine the plan for joint projects for the next year, strengthen the Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the field of youth policy.
The Moscow district of Minsk was represented by the delegation of the Belarusian State Medical University: Tatyana M. Yaroshevich - Deputy Dean for the educational work of the Faculty of General Medicine and students of the faculty of general medicine, pediatric faculty and faculty of general medicine and preventive care. The Vitebsk State Medical University and Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov also participated at the festival.
The program was full of educational and cultural events. On arrival in Smolensk an excursion around the Memorial Complex “Katyn” was organized. Katyn is an international memorial complex devoted to the victims of political repression, as well as to the victims of the German occupiers during the Great Patriotic War.
Then the BSMU delegation visited the school of the Educational Center for Children with Special Educational Needs in Smolensk. At the Center BSMU delegation got acquainted with the latest achievements in integrating their students into a full-fledged educational process. During the presentation the speakers made a significant emphasis on the introduction of digital technologies, elements of distance and semi-automated education, training of specialists to ensure inclusive environment for children of all ages. Speakers were open to discussion and the delegates felt free to ask different questions and even argue.
The organizers of the meeting also provided an interesting sightseeing tour to the historical part of the city where BSMU students learned a lot about the history of Smolensk.
During the second day students enjoyed different educational and cultural events. For example, a tour to the Art Gallery of the Smolensk State Museum was organized.
The cultural program ended with an excursion to two museums: the youth center-museum named after Admiral Nakhimov and the history museum of the youth movement. BSMU students presented the badge of the public youth association “Belarusian Republican Youth Union” to the history museum of the youth movement.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the program was the delegation's visit to the secondary school No. 33 in Smolensk, which is one of the top ten schools in Russia. During the visit the students got acquainted with the history of the school as well as personally communicated with the winners of the contest “The best teacher of the year” within the framework of the Priority National Project “Education”. Moreover, the delegates had the honor to get acquainted with the scientific projects of the students of the school.
The official part of the visit ended with the solemn presentation of the letter of the Head of the administration of the Moscow district of Minsk Andrei Zhajlovich to the head of Smolensk district Yevgeny Zakharenkov.
