Joint video conference on topical issues of medicine and pharmacy was held within the framework of academic and scientific cooperation between the Belarusian State Medical University and the Turkmen State Medical University named after Myrat Garryev.
The partners have already organized a joint Belarusian-Turkmen scientific conference dedicated to medicinal plants and natural sources of health in 2018, when the delegation Turkmen State Medical University visited the Belarusian State Medical University. However, in view of the current epidemiological situation, the conference 2021 was held online.
The conference was opened by Vice-Rector for International Relations, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasili Roudenok. In his report, he highlighted the main activities of bilateral cooperation with the Turkmen State Medical University: exchange of information, materials and publications on academic and scientific issues; clinical practice for students and internships for the teaching staff at the Belarusian State Medical University; organization of joint Belarusian-Turkmen scientific conferences.
Professor Roudenok also spoke about the training of medical specialists for practical health care of Turkmenistan. 337 students from this country are studying at the Belarusian State Medical University (including 283 international students and 54 clinical residents). It was noted that students from Turkmenistan are hardworking and responsible, demonstrate high level of knowledge. Training is conducted in 4 specialties of higher education and 22 specialties of clinical residency. Turkmen students often graduate the University with honors. Moreover, students are actively involved in the sports life of the university. They also participate in cultural events held in the University dormitories.

“Modern practice-oriented training in pharmacy” by the Dean of the Pharmaceutical Faculty, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Nataliya Gurina;
“Artificial Intelligence in Medical Diagnosis” by the Head of the Laboratory of Information and Computer Technologies Grigory Karapetyan;
“Scientific research in modern pharmacy” by the Head of the Department of Organization of Pharmacy, candidate of pharmaceutical sciences, associate professor Roman Lukashov.
The Turkmen colleagues made the following presentations:
“The main areas of scientific research at the Turkmen State Medical University named after Myrat Garryev” by the Head of the Department of Theoretical Surgery with a course of Urology, Doctor of Medical Sciences M. Charyev;
“Prospects for the development of artificial intelligence in the diagnosis of neuro-oncology” by the Head of the Department of Nervous Diseases and Neurosurgery, Candidate of Medical Sciences S. Annanepesov;
“Medicinal plants of Turkmenistan as sources of biologically-active compounds” and “Pharmacological science and practice” by the senior teacher of the Department of Pharmacy, Candidate of Pharmacological sciences A. Teshaeva.
Based on the results of the video conference the parties agreed to promote cooperation in the following areas:
