For two days, May 5-6, under the auspices of Belarusian State Medical University and Tashkent Medical Academy within the framework of scientific cooperation, an international scientific and practical conference "Medical rehabilitation - modern approaches" was held. Given the epidemiological situation, the forum was held online. Its participants were leading specialists in the field of medical rehabilitation, physiotherapy, balneology and climatology of Uzbekistan, Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Italy. The conference partners were: the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatology FEMTEC (Italy), the University of Padua (Padua, Italy), Federal Scientific Center of Rehabilitation of the Disabled named after G.A. Albrecht of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, National Medical Research Center for Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
On the first day, the scientific-practical conference was opened by the Rector of Tashkent Medical Academy Alisher Shadmanov and the Vice-rector for International Relations of Belarusian State Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasili Roudenok, who noted the importance of international cooperation between our universities, the relevance and timeliness of the scientific forum, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and wished the audience fruitful and interesting work.
The reports aroused genuine interest:
the President of the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC), Prof. Dr. med. Umberto Solimen emphasized the importance of balneotherapy in the rehabilitation of patients with postcoid syndrome;
Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of the National Resort Association of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Head of the Department of Restorative Medicine, Rehabilitation and Balneology of Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University, Honored Scientist of Russia Alexander Razumov highlighted the methodological and scientific issues of balneology at the present stage;
Honored Scientist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Gennady Ponomarenko spoke about the traditions and innovations in the field of physical and rehabilitation medicine.
In addition, professors from Italy - Stefano Maziero and Fabio Esposito made interesting reports.
Belarusian State Medical University was represented by the staff of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, headed by the Head, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Lyudmila Malkevich and the Department of Physical Education and Sports.
Lyudmila's report was devoted to cryotherapy and its role in the system of medical rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
The second day of the conference was given to young scientists - specialists in the field of medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy, who highlighted the pressing issues of rehabilitation in therapy, sports, innovative approaches to the rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, resort physical factors, methods of traditional oriental medicine in rehabilitation, etc. The report “Swimming and hydrokinesiotherapy as a means of medical rehabilitation of scoliotic disease” was made by the senior lecturer of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, assistant of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation Alena Wanda.
In conclusion, it should be noted that the partners already have a positive experience of conducting such events in an online format: in 2020, a joint conference was organized on adaptive physical culture, medical rehabilitation, physiotherapy and sports medicine. However, we are confident that once the pandemic recedes, there will be an opportunity for face-to-face communication through such forums.
