From October 15, 2018 to October 17, 2018 the official delegation of the Ankara University headed by the Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ayhan Elmali visited the Republic of Belarus.
On October 16, 2018 the delegation of the Ankara University headed by the Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ayhan Elmali visited the Belarusian State Medical University. The delegation was also presented by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Aziz Tekin, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Gulbin Ozcelikay and Second secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Turkey Marta Demidova.
The delegation was received by Vice-Rector for International Relations, professor Vasili V. Roudenok. The meeting was also attended by the Dean of Pharmaceutical Faculty Nataliya S. Gurina.
Note. Ankara University is a public university in Ankara (Turkey). It was the first higher education institution founded in the Republic of Turkey. The mission of Ankara University is to educate individuals that will guide the society in the fields of science and arts through a universal perspective, and to contribute to the production of science, technology and arts with its distinctive and qualified research in the light of Atatürk’s saying, “Science is the most reliable guide in life.” The university has 40 vocational programs, 120 undergraduate programs and 110 graduate programs.
During the official meeting the parties discussed the peculiarities of learning process, organization of higher medical education in the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Belarus, as well as the possibility of organization of joint scientific and practical conferences and symposia on topical issues of medicine, as well as conducting joint Internet conferences.
Vice-Rector for International Relations, professor Vasili V. Roudenok presented the guests with detailed information about the Belarusian State Medical University, noting that about 7 thousand students study at the university over two thousand of whom are students, undergraduates and clinical residents from more than 50 countries of the world. Professor Roudenok stressed that in the field of medical training the Belarusian State Medical University occupies a leading position in the Republic of Belarus and has a highly qualified teaching staff, modern clinical facilities, comfortable living conditions for students.
The university attaches the greatest importance to the improvement of the quality of training of medical specialists, provided by the introduction of innovative forms and technologies of education by equipping with technical means used in the learning process, improving curricula and programs, and improving the qualifications of teaching staff. Practical classes are held in the university innovative Center of practical training. Modern patient simulators make it possible to simulate any clinical situations and work out the skills to perform manipulations and interventions, especially in emergency situations.
Vasili Roudenok also emphasized the advances of BSMU international cooperation. The university develops cooperation with partners from more than 30 countries of the world, including universities of Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Canada, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Israel, etc. Belarusian State Medical University also develops student mobility programs, stimulates student participation in sports and cultural events, international competitions and contests.
Dean of Pharmaceutical Faculty, professor Nataliya S. Gurina spoke in detail about the state of the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on the pharmaceutical industry of the Republic of Belarus and on the Belarusian pharmaceutical companies in particular.
Professor Gurina also presented the information on the history, structure and educational activities of the Pharmaceutical Faculty. Nataliya S. Gurina highlighted the advances of the Faculty in training both citizens of Belarus and foreign citizens.
While talking about the educational process professor Gurina emphasized that pharmacology and pharmacotherapy occupy a special place in training of prospective pharmacists, because these disciplines provide necessary knowledge and skills of patient-centered pharmaceutical care.
Ankara University delegates positively assessed the quality of Belarusian medical and pharmaceutical education and expressed interest in discussing the prospects of establishing long-term scientific and academic cooperation, as well as implementation of various joint projects with our university.
Ankara University delegates were also impressed by the way how the Belarusian State Medical University manages to combine classical and modern approaches in the preparation of highly qualified specialists.
The Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ayhan Elmali made a presentation on the achievements of Ankara University. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Elmali emphasized that through the associate degree, undergraduate, and graduate programs Ankara University educates individuals who can examine, question, and solve problems, who are self-confident, open-minded, and free of prejudices, respecting social and universal values. At the same time, Ankara University offers the accumulation of knowledge and technology acquired through the wide range of research and application centres within its body focused on various scientific fields.
After the official meeting Ankara University delegates had a short excursion to the Pharmaceutical faculty, BSMU new laboratory building and the Center of practical training.
At the end of the meeting the delegation of Ankara University thanked the university for organizing the meeting and for the warm welcome. Both sides exchanged souvenirs.
