On November 16, 2018 the Belarusian State Medical University was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Tsui Tsimin, as well as the First Secretary of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus for Education Li Wenhua.
The main purpose of the visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Tsui Tsimin to the Belarusian State Medical University was to familiarize with the organization of the educational process in the Belarusian State Medical University, the structure of the university, the system of higher medical education of the Republic of Belarus, to discuss the development of Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in higher medical education and health care, as well as prospects interuniversity interaction.
Rector of the University Anatol V. Sikorsky hosted the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus. The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector for International Relations Vasili V.Rudenok.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues relating to the learning process of citizens of the People’s Republic of China, their academic performance, motivation to learn. They also touched upon the organization of educational work and joint activities aimed at deepening knowledge in the history of the Belarusian and Chinese peoples.
Rector of the University Anatol V. Sikorsky told about the Belarusian State Medical University, about the structure, educational process, as well as the organization of educational and scientific activities of the university.
Anatol V. Sikorsky also noted that the Belarusian State Medical University has a highly qualified teaching staff, modern clinical facilities, comfortable living conditions for students. In the educational process, much attention is paid, above all, to the practical training of future doctors. In order to maximally bring the educational process closer to the future conditions of the doctor’s activities, classes are held in the university laboratory of practical skills. The capabilities of modern patient simulators make it possible to simulate any clinical situations and work out skills to perform manipulations and interventions, especially in emergency situations.
It was proposed to invite a teacher from the People’s Republic of China to the Belarusian State Medical University in order to organize a series of lectures on Chinese traditional medicine, to further conduct research on traditional medicine, and it was also offered to exchange students and teachers from the People’s Republic of China, to held joint Internet conferences, scientific conferences, seminars and workshops on topical issues of medicine.
Mr. Tsuyu Tsimin positively responded to the proposal of the Belarusian side, expressed respect for the country and the Belarusian people, and also noted that among applicants from the People’s Republic of China there is interest in entering Belarusian universities and Belarusian State Medical University is no exception. Also Mr. Ambassador proposed to work out the issue of establishing inter-university cooperation between medical universities of the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Tsui Tsimin noted that the quality of training of medical specialists at Belarusian State Medical University is very high. The Ambassador stressed that applicants from China choose our university for several reasons - this is the high quality of education, its availability, flexible rewards for academic performance and social activities, the ability to hold national cultural events, a stable socio-economic situation in the Republic of Belarus as a whole. He also stressed the importance of partnerships with the Belarusian State Medical University and expressed hope for the development of fruitful cooperation in the future.
After official meeting Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Tsui Tsimin met with Chinese students studying at the Belarusian State Medical University and other higher educational institutions of Minsk.
Citizens of the People’s Republic of China were given a lecture on the topic: “Mental health and how to preserve it” by the head of the Department of psychiatry and medical psychology, professor Oleg A. Skugarevsky and Associate Professor of the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology Inna V. Pyatnitskaya.
The lecture covered a wide range of issues relating to a person’s mental health, psychological adaptation, the concept of stress and its various phases, as well as mental illness and other related factors of its occurrence.
The topic of the lecture aroused great interest among the audience and active discussion. .As a result, Chinese students have acquired new knowledge and useful information, which undoubtedly will be very useful to them both during their studies at the university and in the future.
At the end of the meeting, both sides exchanged souvenirs.
